Cycle 3 is the first stage whose exact audience list depends heavily on the previous cycle. Three cards are guaranteed on a forward route, one or both county rulers arrive from your Cycle 2 decision, and Chester or Goberto may add several follow-ups. Rewinding to Cycle 2 can add the Serpent Knight. A quiet route can instead draw one random grievance from a pool with 65 possible cards and 64 distinct conversations.

Spoiler warning: This guide lists all 68 distinct labels in the scheduled, conditional, and new optional scenes, plus all 210 labels in the random audience pool. It also explains the hidden Goose variant, personality and relationship changes, quest results, replay routes, and Cycle 4 consequences.

Return to the Cycle 2 walkthrough

  1. Select Alwena’s audience first. It has no choices and makes the Intendancy available to construct.
  2. Build the Intendancy for free, enter it, and start an investigation into one Knight’s unknown rumor. Finishing the audience phase creates a later Tower View visit in the afternoon, when the result can be heard.
  3. Recruit Gwendan before taking any Kind- or Audacious-gated responses whose hidden relationship reaction you want. He likes Kind answers and dislikes Audacious ones.
  4. Resolve Grest and the county ruler. For Gavault, People investigation is Angelica’s strongest route; for Groveshire, Follow the herd is much safer than direct combat.
  5. Hear any Chester or Goberto follow-up. If Chester offers The Clean Keeper Goose, Part Two, note which of its three special solutions was selected behind the scenes.
  6. In the afternoon, collect the Intendancy rumor, repair low armor at the Forge before risky assignments, and play any available Goberto affinity scene.
  7. Assign the new county quest. Angelica is the safest general choice; Gwendan is excellent in the taverns, while Goberto performs poorly on most county investigations.
  8. Finish the transition only when the first Cycle 4 Tower View appears. Result panels and level-ups make the number of clicks variable.

Cycle 3 Audience Assembly

The guaranteed cards are Alwena’s Intendancy introduction, Gwendan’s candidacy, and Grest’s grievance. Gavault or Groveshire is then added from Cycle 2. Reconciliation adds both counties, in Groveshire then Gavault scheduling order. County rulers are visually prioritized, but no card is forced: every unplayed figure remains freely selectable.

State carried from Cycle 2Cycle 3 audience result
One county, no Chester result, no paid Goberto callback, no Goberto death, and no Serpent KnightFour direct cards, then exactly one random audience is added.
One county plus exactly one Chester, Goberto callback/death, or Serpent Knight audienceFive direct cards; no random audience.
One county plus both Chester and Goberto callback/deathSix direct cards; no random audience. Chester can coexist with either Goberto route, while Goberto’s callback and death are mutually exclusive on a forward route. A replay-only Serpent card can raise this to seven.
Reconciled countiesFive direct cards before any Chester, Goberto, or Serpent addition; no random audience. Those three independent additions can raise the total as high as eight on a replay.

The Clovermont pool was unlocked during Elioth’s Cycle 2 scene regardless of your answer. Grest unlocks another pool during Cycle 3, but audience filling has already happened, so his new cards cannot appear until Cycle 4. Dulahan also does not arrive here: Goberto’s death schedules that candidacy two cycles out, for Cycle 4 at the earliest.

Replay-Only Serpent Knight

If you use Demon Power to rewind to Cycle 2 before meeting the Serpent Knight, the scheduler adds Epicrates to the following Cycle 3. That extra card raises a four-card route to five and therefore suppresses its random filler. The normal conversation has two topics that can be taken in either order; every completed route records the meeting.

StepChoiceOutcome
Opening topicWhat can I do for you?Epicrates questions whether this is really your first time on the throne. This changes only the order of the two conversation topics.
Opening or second topicWho… are you?Asks the stranger’s identity before he turns the question back on you. This changes only the order of the two conversation topics.
Forced bridge… And what can I do for you?Moves from the identity exchange to his question about the time loop. No mechanical effect.
Time-loop answerNo. But this is the first time I have seen you here.Tells Epicrates the truth. There is no mechanical difference from lying; completing the conversation records that you met him.
Time-loop answer(Lie) It is the first time, though.Lies to Epicrates. There is no mechanical difference from telling the truth; completing the conversation records that you met him.
Identity answerThe new ruler and master of this place.Gives Epicrates the confident answer. There is no mechanical difference from calling yourself a sick traveller.
Identity answerA sick traveller who, I-still-don’t-know-how, managed to open the Tower’s door.Gives Epicrates the humble answer. There is no mechanical difference from calling yourself the new ruler.
Early exitGuards?! Get this man out immediately!Gives Tyrannic +1, records that you met the Serpent Knight, and ends the audience immediately.
Identity foresightHello again, Epicrates.Skips the interrogation without awarding a modifier. Records that you met Epicrates and enables the same later callbacks as the full conversation.

Guards?! Get this man out immediately! is the only answer with a personality change, giving Tyrannic +1 and ending the scene early. After learning Epicrates’s identity in another timeline, Hello again, Epicrates. appears at Omniscient Level 1 and skips the interrogation.

Core Audiences

Alwena’s audience contains no choice. It makes the Intendancy constructible rather than building it automatically. Construction costs no funds and recruits Alwena as its servant.

Gwendan’s Candidacy

StepChoiceOutcome
DecisionI need to clean up the tower a bit before admitting you inside, it seems.Unlocks the Call Back Gwendan callback request.
DecisionI am afraid that you shine too much for this SHACK, Sir.Dialogue only.
DecisionWelcome to the Round Table, shiny young Sir.Recruits Gwendan.

Immediate recruitment lets Gwendan take a Cycle 3 quest, but new recruits are marked as already spoken to and cannot receive a free-time scene that cycle. The Later option unlocks a 10-fund Map Room request; send it during Cycle 3 to schedule his Cycle 4 return. If you postpone him again during that return, he loses exactly 1 affinity.

Gwendan begins with Strength 5, Agility 4, Charisma 8, Magic 2, Wits 3, Luck 1, and 6 armor. His known traits are Noble Soul and Arrogant. He likes Kind Sovereign answers, dislikes Audacious answers, dislikes Relic Recovery assignments, and has a hidden Fear of the Dark rumor.

Grest’s Request

StepChoiceOutcome
ChoicesOf course, you’ve earned it.Requires 90 funds. Merchants satisfaction +2. People satisfaction +1. Spends 90 funds.
ChoicesI fear that the Tower’s resources are limited.Merchants satisfaction -1. People satisfaction -1. Wise +1. Audacious -1.
ChoicesIsn’t this logistical distress part of the local charm? Embrace it!Requires Audacious Level 1. People satisfaction +1. Merchants satisfaction -1. Audacious +1. Hidden relationship effect: Goberto gains affinity +0.35 if recruited; Gwendan loses 0.125 if already recruited.
Replay only: Opening responseI bet you’re going to tell me about the route from Grest to here.Requires Omniscient Level 1.
Replay only: Opening responseOi, oi good Ser.Dialogue only.

Both replay openings lead to the same three decisions. Paying is the strongest satisfaction swing but spends 90 funds. Refusing on resource grounds trades two satisfaction losses for Wise +1 and Audacious -1. The Audacious route is unavailable until Level 1, gives People +1 and Merchants -1, and can also change Goberto and Gwendan affinity when they are already present.

Conditional Audiences from Cycle 2

StepChoiceOutcome

Follow-upYou say your people are mourning… a nobleman?Dialogue only.
Lion questionHm. Can you give me more details?Dialogue only.
Lion questionI certainly won’t hold him back… You were saying about these diplomatic diatribes?Audacious +1.
Opening responseBy diplomatic diatribes, you mean… political shenanigans?Audacious +1.
Opening response… Do you always bring your pet lion with you?Audacious +1.
Replay only: Opening responseWelcome. I am aware of the political intrigues in which you are involved.Requires Omniscient Level 1.
Opening responseTell me more.Dialogue only.

The three investigations are mutually exclusive in one pass. People requires People satisfaction 5, Nobles requires Nobles satisfaction 5, and Taverns has no satisfaction gate. On a replay, remembered knowledge and Omniscient Level 1 add an opening shortcut; knowing the revolt leader also permits the direct personal-intervention route, which schedules the daughter-side continuation without creating a quest.

Groveshire

StepChoiceOutcome
Bargain decisionAgreed. We’ll dismantle this pack in order to destroy the beast.Unlocks the Groveshire Defeat the Hord quest. Wise +1. Marks the direct-defeat route as chosen.

Replay only: Opening responseI assume you are here regarding the fearsome beast that is haunting your grounds?Requires Omniscient Level 1.
Opening responseA challenging matter?Dialogue only. Marks Count Guilhelm as met, enabling his remembered replay opening.
Beast follow-upIs Groveshire not famed for its hunters?Dialogue only.
Beast follow-upMy knights will be delighted to take on this worthy challenge.Dialogue only.

Several routes re-offer the same two quest decisions with different bridges, which is why their visible labels repeat in the complete table. Follow the herd requires Kind Level 1. Every Defeat version gives Wise +1. Follow gives Wise +1 from the bargain and final-decision routes, but not from the direct conclusion-question route.

Chester’s Goose Follow-Up

Ordinary success

StepChoiceOutcome
DecisionGuards?Dialogue only.

Failure

This version of the scene has no choices.

Angelica’s special result

StepChoiceOutcome
DecisionIt’s a good thing. Let that mother rest with dignityKind +1.
DecisionGuards?Dialogue only.
Follow-upGuards?Dialogue only.
Follow-upThis is extremely worrying. I’ll send a knight to assess the situation.Unlocks the Cleankeeper Goose Part Two quest.

Sending a Knight to investigate unlocks The Clean Keeper Goose, Part Two, but the game secretly selects exactly one of three versions:

Hidden versionRequirement for the special result
CheeseThe assigned Knight must have equipment carrying the Cheesy tag. Goberto’s Cheese Lover trait alone does not count.
PaulThe assigned Knight must have equipment carrying the Equine tag. Equipping Paul is the early way to meet it; merely owning him is insufficient.
GwendanAssign unreformed Gwendan.

All three variants are reachable and random; the dialogue choice does not select among them. Matching the hidden requirement replaces the ordinary quest result with 0-1 damage, 9 XP, 1 fund, and Chester’s Cycle 4 candidacy. Without that match, Angelica scores 2.493 for Success: 1 damage, 6 XP, 1 fund, and assignment affinity +1.33. Goberto scores -4.826 for Failure, takes 4-5 damage because of Extremely Clumsy, gains 3 XP, and receives no funds. Gwendan scores -1.843 for Failure, takes 2-3 damage, gains 3 XP, and receives no funds.

Goberto’s Return or Death

StepChoiceOutcome
DecisionYes.Recruits Goberto.
DecisionLet me think about it.Unlocks the Call Back Goberto callback request.
DecisionNo.Dialogue only.

Calling Goberto back required sending his 10-fund request during Cycle 2. Saying Later again unlocks the request once more. If he instead died during the Magpie result, Berta brings this choice-free-consequence announcement:

StepChoiceOutcome
Follow-upOf course. He shall be deeply missed.Dialogue only.
Follow-upDialogue only.

Both responses are presentation-only. The death remains recorded for cumulative death achievements even if another timeline restores Goberto.

Goberto’s Optional Conversation

StepChoiceOutcome
DecisionNo one expects any letters from me.Dialogue only.
DecisionWho are you writing to?Wise +1.
Family replySo what are you telling her?Dialogue only.
Family replyI’ll be waiting.Dialogue only.
Follow-upSounds riveting.Dialogue only.
Follow-upIt changes a man, doesn’t it?Goberto affinity +1.5.
No-letter replyI suppose that’s a plot convenience.Goberto affinity +1.5.
No-letter replySometimes it’s better to be on your own…Dialogue only.
Question… Who were you writing to?Dialogue only.
Question… What were you writing about?Dialogue only.

This scene requires Goberto to have joined in Cycle 2, survived, be unassigned and available, and not be blocked by his conversation cooldown. Recruiting him from the Cycle 3 callback marks him as already spoken to, so the scene cannot occur in that version of the cycle. The two positive affinity answers can be combined for +3 total affinity because Goberto’s positive gains are multiplied to +1.5 each.

Angelica’s cat conversation can also carry forward if skipped in both earlier cycles; its complete table remains on the Cycle 1 walkthrough. The Angelica-Goberto and Angelica-Carina shared scenes have no choices or mechanical effects and compete for the single shared-conversation slot.

Random Audience Appendix

This appendix is the full random pool available at Cycle 3 filling time: the four baseline representative pools plus Clovermont’s additions. A normal quiet route draws only one card. When the Round Table has more Knights than open quests, the game first forces a quest-capable random card; otherwise it uses weighted selection across the eligible pool.

One apparent Academy Tower card incorrectly opens the same Copy Cats conversation, so 65 possible cards lead to 64 distinct conversations. The two appearances of are separate choices in the Hairy Beast and Vampire scenes.

Afternoon Options

  • Use the Intendancy: Starting an investigation queues one unknown trait or preference from an available Knight. You cannot hear it until a later Tower View visit. Only one rumor can be heard per visit; the first rumor unlocks Sovereign Gossiper. Traits already affect mechanics before being revealed.
  • Repair armor: The Forge charges 20 funds for the first repair since the last Round Table, then 45, 80, 125, and upward. This matters before Groveshire’s direct-combat quest. The game labels the Taverns quest nonlethal, but armor damage is deducted before that protection is displayed, so a Knight on very low armor can still die.
  • Play free-time scenes: Up to two affinity or special conversations can be selected in a cycle, with one shared Knight conversation filling remaining capacity. Assignment freezes a Knight’s affinity cooldown rather than reducing it.
  • Carry old quests: An unassigned Cycle 2 Goose or Magpie remains available. If the Magpie kills Goberto during Cycle 3, Berta’s death announcement is delayed to Cycle 4.
  • Use Demon Power carefully: Most active state rewinds, but corruption, Omniscient progress, all-time recruitment and completions, death counts, learned traits, and personality progression persist. Knowledge that Gavault’s revolt leader was found is not reset with the other county flags and can leak across timelines.

Round Table and Quest Outcomes

The five county choices create major quests with a two-cycle deadline. Assigning a quest removes it from deadline countdown; leaving it unassigned until expiry forces a critical failure without Knight damage. The table below assumes starting Knight stats, no meal, no equipment, and no stat increase from a level-up. Hidden traits are included.

Groveshire Follow succeedsScholars satisfaction +1, gains 35 funds, and queues the next Groveshire audience for Cycle 4.
Either Groveshire quest failsOn a normal unreconciled route, queues Gavault’s fallback audience for Cycle 4. A reconciled-route failure queues no fallback.

Angelica likes Scouting, so all three Gavault assignments and Follow the Herd give her +1.33 affinity. Goberto likes Hunt, so even his dangerous Defeat the Herd assignment gives +1.33. Gwendan dislikes Relic Recovery, so assigning him to a carried Magpie or the random Thief Harpy contract costs 0.75 affinity.

Random Filler Quest Outcomes

Eleven of the 65 random audience cards can unlock quests. Their 27 quest-accepting choice contexts produce 18 distinct quests and 26 effective versions. The unlocking choice is shown again below so variants with the same title remain distinguishable. A newly unlocked quest is immediately available at the same Cycle 3 Round Table and competes with the county quest for your Knights.

The Vampire choices request a version that those three quest resources do not contain, so the game quietly uses each base contract. False Bank’s low-Wits special triggers before the ordinary score calculation; all three fresh Cycle 3 Knights meet it. Gwendan’s In Debt trait can independently reduce a funds reward by 15% on a 50% roll. The special outcomes that require Dulahan, Magic 10, Charisma 10, or a Demon-characteristic Knight remain reachable later even when the three current baseline Knights cannot trigger them.

Solo Baseline Assignment Matrix

This table assigns only the named Knight, even when a contract requests two. The missing-Knight penalty is already included, so the harsh results are intentional and show why some random quests are better carried forward. It uses fresh stats, no equipment, no meal, and no level-up stat increase; revealed and hidden traits both count. Normal success rewards are listed in the contract table above.

Fortunate can move Angelica between the adjacent result tiers where the table’s stored baseline is close enough to a threshold. Extremely Clumsy adds 2 damage to Goberto’s failures. One Thesis Thief version displays a two-Knight request, but the shipped solo calculation still uses the base one-Knight count; the listed solo scores follow that actual behavior.

Cycle 3 End State

Cycle 3 ends only when the first Cycle 4 Tower View loads. Grest’s random pool is now eligible. A deferred Gwendan or Goberto can return if you sent the relevant request during Cycle 3. County successes, normal-route county failures, Goose Part Two, and any new death announcements can schedule Cycle 4 follow-ups. Reconciled county failures do not create fallback cards.

The safest first-run result is to recruit Gwendan, use Angelica for Gavault People or Groveshire Follow, and keep injured Knights away from direct Groveshire combat. Build the Intendancy early enough to hear its first rumor in the afternoon, then carry any excess random quest forward rather than forcing a weak assignment.
