Cycle 2 opens the time-reversal system, offers the first permanent choice between two county storylines, and can give you two simultaneous quests and a second knight. The safest full-reward route is to recruit Goberto, send Goberto after The Clean Keeper Goose, and send Angelica after The Bloody Magpie. Reversing those assignments deliberately triggers both special outcomes, including Goberto’s death.
Spoiler warning: This guide gives every displayed dialogue option, hidden personality and affinity changes, both county follow-ups, exact quest results, achievements, and the effects of turning back time.
Return to the Cycle 1 walkthrough
Recommended Order
- Enter the forced Demon room and finish his introduction. After the forced reveal, the questions only change the order of his explanation; taking the lock is unavoidable.
- Hear Carina’s hammer resolution and all four scheduled audiences. They can be selected in any order. On a replay with Audacious Level 2, recruit Goberto before hearing Elioth if you want the hidden Goberto affinity bonus from the magpie-citizen answer.
- Choose either Gavault or Groveshire. This schedules that county’s first storyline audience for Cycle 3.
- Recruit Goberto, accept both The Clean Keeper Goose and The Bloody Magpie, and let the remaining audiences finish.
- In the afternoon, enter the Gallery and unlock the Forge for free. This recruits Carina as a servant and opens relic shopping and armor repair.
- At the Round Table, assign Goberto to the goose and Angelica to the magpie. Both survive; Angelica has an even chance of Success or Great Success.
- End the cycle, collect both quest results, level Angelica if the normal Cycle 1 hammer quest gave her 11 XP, and finish the transition to enter Cycle 3.
The Demon’s Mandatory Introduction
The morning begins with every other room and progress control disabled. You must enter the Crypts and choose Who’s there?, which reveals the Demon. The next question has two versions; after that, the conversation becomes a flexible information loop. You may ask any subset of its three topics in any order, refuse to cooperate, and still reach the same closing line.
| Step | Choice | Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Forced opening | Who’s there? | Reveals the Demon and begins the introduction. None; the power unlock is mandatory later in the scene. |
| First question | What do you want from me? | Asks what the Demon expects from you. None; the power unlock is mandatory later in the scene. |
| Topic | What are you doing here, you cursed creature?! | Asks why the Demon is imprisoned in the Tower. None. |
| Topic | Are you the voices in my head? | Gets the narrator’s deliberately unhelpful answer. None. |
| Topic | I want nothing to do with you. | Lets the Demon insist that the power is necessary. None. |
| Topic | … How can you serve me? | Explains that the Demon can reverse your mistakes. None. |
| Closing | … I’ve heard enough. | Accepts the lock and finishes the mandatory introduction. Unlocks the Demon Power and its achievement regardless of the earlier topic order. |
Every route gives you the lock, permanently enables Demon Power, and unlocks How Could that Go Wrong. You cannot refuse the power by choosing I want nothing to do with you. That line only adds another piece of dialogue before the same ending.
The tutorial explains that Demon Power returns to recorded morning or afternoon states within the current Act. Each actual rewind adds Omniscient +1 and raises a hidden corruption counter by 1. Funds, satisfaction, knight condition and affinity, quests, rooms, requests, inventory, and played scenes return to the selected snapshot. Learned knight characteristics and preferences, discovered quest requirements, archetype progress, Demon progress, cumulative deaths, and all-time recruitment and completion records survive. The introduction itself does not repeat after a rewind.
The hidden corruption counter later changes which incidental audiences are favored. The tenth use also unlocks It’s Rewind Time! Those are consequences of using the power, not of the harmless dialogue order above.
Morning Audiences
Cycle 2 contains four scheduled audiences plus Carina’s Cycle 1 follow-up, for five total. No random filler audience is added when all five are present. You may select their figures in any order, but the phase cannot end until every figure has been heard.
Carina and the Forge
On the normal route, Carina reports that Angelica found the hammer by the river near the old mill. There is no choice. On the Omniscient Cycle 1 bypass, Carina instead admits that your prediction was correct and gives one response:
| Step | Choice | Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Omniscient resolution | I believe you owe me an apology? | Finishes Carina’s alternate hammer-resolution scene. Forge construction becomes available just as it does after the normal quest result. |
Both scenes make the Forge available to unlock in the Gallery. Neither builds it automatically, and the Omniscient route still receives no missing hammer-quest funds or XP.
Gavault or Groveshire
Damian and Arnold demand that you hear only one county. The opening changes one personality value at most; the route choice then schedules a mutually exclusive Cycle 3 audience. The final question on the chosen branch is optional flavor unless you take its Audacious response.
| Step | Choice | Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Opening | Calm down. I’ll listen to you both.. | Wise +1, then continues to the county choice. The point persists. |
| Opening | One at a time, please. | Continues to the county choice without a modifier. None. |
| County route | I’m a country bumpkin. Go on, Damian. | Chooses Gavault and dismisses the Groveshire representative. Queues Gavault’s first county audience for Cycle 3 instead of Groveshire’s; later dialogue remembers that Groveshire was offended. |
| County route | I’m a snob. I’m listening to you, Arnold. | Chooses Groveshire and dismisses the Gavault representative. Queues Groveshire’s first county audience for Cycle 3 instead of Gavault’s; later dialogue remembers that Gavault was offended. |
| Gavault follow-up | What do you mean? | Asks for clarification without a modifier. None. |
| Gavault follow-up | Perfect. It looks easy as pie. | Audacious +1. The point persists. |
| Groveshire follow-up | What is it? | Asks for clarification without a modifier. None. |
| Groveshire follow-up | GREAT. I hope that it’s potentially deadly too. | Audacious +1. The point persists. |
Choosing Gavault queues Countess Mathilda’s opening political request. Choosing Groveshire queues the Count’s opening request instead. The unchosen county does not start its storyline in this timeline, so use Demon Power if you want to see both routes.
On later timelines, meeting either ruler unlocks two repeat-opening labels. Learning Gideon’s origins adds a far more consequential Omniscient route:
| Step | Choice | Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Known-counties bridge | … | Appears after meeting either county ruler in another timeline and repeats the full opening. Continues to the ordinary county route choice without a modifier. |
| Omniscient shortcut | Hello to both of you… I know, you hate each other, and your two counties have a request for me. | Requires Omniscient Level 1 after meeting either ruler; skips the repeated argument. Continues directly to the ordinary county route choice without a modifier. |
| Lost-child foresight | Let your two counts come. I have information for them concerning the lost child. | Requires Omniscient Level 1 and knowledge of Gideon’s origins; offers to reconcile both counties. Opens a promise-or-withdraw decision instead of forcing a single county route. |
| Reconciliation | You have my word. If your two counts put aside their resentment and both accept my help, I will introduce them to the one deemed lost. | Reconciles Groveshire and Gavault and schedules both county openings. Both county storylines begin in Cycle 3, replacing the normal either-or route. |
| Reconciliation | … Forget it. | Withdraws the offer and returns to the normal county choice. No reconciliation occurs; choose Gavault or Groveshire as usual. The lost-child offer does not repeat during that audience. |
Promising to reveal the lost child reconciles the counties and queues both Cycle 3 openings. This is the only Cycle 2 route that avoids the normal either-or lock. Withdrawing returns you to the ordinary Gavault-or-Groveshire choice.
Goberto’s Candidacy
| Step | Choice | Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Recruitment | We accept gladly, Sir Goberto. | Recruits Goberto immediately. He can take a Cycle 2 assignment, but cannot have an affinity conversation until a later cycle. |
| Recruitment | Let me think about it. | Does not recruit Goberto and unlocks his Map Room callback request. Sending that request schedules another candidacy for the next cycle. |
| Recruitment | We do not need you. | Dismisses Goberto without unlocking a callback. He cannot be recruited later in this timeline unless time is reversed. |
Recruiting Goberto is the practical choice because it gives you enough knights to run both new quests at once. Let me think about it. is not a rejection: it adds a Goberto request to the Map Room. Sending that request during the afternoon costs 10 funds and schedules his return for Cycle 3. We do not need you. creates no callback.
Goberto is marked as already spoken to when recruited, so his first affinity conversation cannot occur during Cycle 2. This does not stop him from taking a quest immediately.
Chester and the Goose
| Step | Choice | Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Opening | Absolutely. Please continue. | Lets Chester explain the goose problem directly. None. |
| Opening | What’s that smell? | Adds one required follow-up before Chester explains the goose problem. None. |
| Forced follow-up | Have you tried taking a bath? Groundbreaking, I know. | Continues to the goose decision. None. |
| Decision | The smell… I’ll send a knight to handle the goose immediately. | Wise +1 and unlocks The Clean Keeper Goose. The one-cycle quest can be assigned now or left open for a later cycle. |
| Decision | I fear no soap can save you. Take this gold and… leave the region. I beg you. | Requires and costs 5 funds, and gives Audacious +1. The goose quest is not unlocked. |
Paying Chester is a complete alternative to the quest. It spends 5 funds and no goose assignment or follow-up is created. Accepting instead opens a one-cycle Scouting quest in Milkford requiring Strength 2 and Charisma 4, with Flying Creature and Water conditions.
After meeting Chester once, that knowledge survives a rewind and unlocks an Omniscient shortcut:
| Step | Choice | Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Omniscient opening | Oh, not you again. Guards? | Requires Omniscient Level 1 after meeting Chester in an earlier timeline; skips his normal opening. Continues to a replay-only accept-or-reject decision. |
| Omniscient decision | Alright, I’ve clearly got nothing better to do anyway. | Unlocks The Clean Keeper Goose without the normal Wise +1. The quest can be assigned now or left open for a later cycle. |
| Omniscient decision | Guards? | Throws Chester out and unlocks no quest. There is no Wise gain, Audacious gain, or funds cost. |
The shortcut can accept the quest without the normal Wise point or dismiss Chester without paying him. His normal opening choices remain available on the replay.
Elioth and the Magpie
Elioth enables the Clovermont incidental-audience pool as soon as his scene begins, regardless of your answers. This is easy to miss because no choice or notification controls it.
| Step | Choice | Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Opening | I think I may require you to confirm one more time where you hail from. | Audacious +1 and Kind -1. Both values persist. |
| Opening | Welcome. What is this request? | Wise +1. The point persists. |
| Decision | No need to use big words. I’ll send a knight. | Unlocks The Bloody Magpie. The one-cycle quest can be assigned now or left open for a later cycle. |
| Decision | Let the magpie enjoy its victory. | Scholars satisfaction -1 and Audacious +1. The magpie quest is not unlocked. |
| Audacious Level 2 decision | Let’s declare the magpie a citizen. Problem solved. | Requires Audacious Level 2; People satisfaction +2, Scholars satisfaction -1, and Kind +1. No quest is unlocked. If Goberto is already recruited, the Audacious-tagged answer also gives him affinity +0.35. |
Let’s declare the magpie a citizen. Problem solved. is impossible on an ordinary first run because it requires Audacious Level 2, or 22 Audacious points. It becomes available after enough rewinds because personality progression survives time travel. Its Audacious requirement also counts as expressing a trait Goberto likes: if he was recruited earlier in the audience order, he gains affinity +0.35. Hearing Elioth first forfeits that small bonus for this pass.
Accepting the request opens a one-cycle Relic Recovery quest in Villador requiring Agility 4 and Wits 2, with Flying Creature, Climbing, and Woods conditions.
After meeting Elioth once, the remembered encounter opens an Omniscient shortcut. It skips both normal opening modifiers and uses two alternate wordings in the final decision:
| Step | Choice | Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Omniscient opening | I know why you’re here. | Requires Omniscient Level 1 after meeting the Clovermont emissary in an earlier timeline; skips both normal opening modifiers. Continues directly to the same three magpie decisions. |
| Omniscient quest decision | A knight will take care of this magpie. | Unlocks The Bloody Magpie without an opening personality change. The quest can be assigned now or left open for a later cycle. |
| Omniscient Audacious Level 2 decision | The magpie will be declared a citizen. Problem solved. | Requires Audacious Level 2; People satisfaction +2, Scholars satisfaction -1, and Kind +1. No quest is unlocked. If Goberto is already recruited, the Audacious-tagged answer also gives him affinity +0.35. |
The replay version of Let the magpie enjoy its victory. keeps its original wording and effects. Either citizen wording carries the Audacious tag and can give Goberto affinity +0.35 when he is already recruited.
Afternoon Options
The mandatory Demon sequence and audience phase leave several useful optional actions:
- Build the Forge: Enter the Gallery, choose Unlock new room, and select Forge. Construction costs nothing. Carina joins as a servant, her short Forge introduction has no choices, and the room immediately offers relics and armor repair. Building it also adds a choice-free Angelica-Carina conversation to the optional-dialogue pool; that scene has no mechanical effect and may compete with other optional conversations. Your first-ever room construction unlocks A Founding Stone. Repairs cost 20, 45, 80, 125 funds, and so on during one Round Table period; the counter resets when the Round Table finishes.
- Call Goberto back later: If you postponed his candidacy, pay 10 funds to send his new request from the Map Room. His return is scheduled for Cycle 3, not the same afternoon.
- Play Angelica’s first affinity scene: If you skipped her cat-and-flour conversation in Cycle 1, it remains available now. Use the complete choice table on the Cycle 1 walkthrough. If it was already played, her next scene cannot yet be reached: even the best first scene gives only 3 affinity, below its 5-affinity requirement. Its two-cycle cooldown also has not cleared; the normal Carina assignment prevents the transition decrement, while the Omniscient bypass reduces it only to 1.
- Use Demon Power: Rewinding now abandons the current timeline’s morning decisions and restores the selected snapshot while retaining the time-travel progression described above.
Round Table and Every Quest Result
The two quests are optional and have no deadline. An accepted but unassigned quest remains available in later cycles. Cycle End may warn about idle knights and unfilled assignments, but unlike Cycle 1 it does not force you to fill every quest.
With the fresh-game versions of Angelica and Goberto, only Angelica’s Magpie result and Goberto’s small goose-damage roll are random:
| Quest | Assign Angelica | Assign Goberto |
|---|---|---|
| The Clean Keeper Goose | Unexpected Outcome: affinity +1.33 because Angelica likes Scouting; 0 armor damage; 9 XP; 25 funds; People satisfaction +1; queues Angelica’s special Chester follow-up for Cycle 3. Unlocks Didn’t See That Coming the first time any special outcome completes. | Success: no affinity change; 0 or 1 armor damage; 6 XP; 5 funds; queues Chester’s normal success follow-up for Cycle 3. |
| The Bloody Magpie | 50% Success / 50% Great Success: exactly 1 armor damage; 6 or 9 XP; 25 or 37 funds; Scholars satisfaction +1; obtains Paul, a donkey mount worth 90 funds that gives Strength +1, Charisma -2, and reduces quest duration by 1. Great Success also gives affinity +0.75. No audience follow-up. | Unexpected Outcome: assignment affinity +1.33 because Goberto likes Relic Recovery; exactly 100 armor damage, reducing his armor to 0 and killing him; no XP, funds, satisfaction, or mount. Unlocks Didn’t See That Coming and So, About That Demon Power…, then queues Berta’s death announcement for Cycle 3. |
The recommended cross-assignment, Goberto on the goose and Angelica on the magpie, completes both safely. Goberto’s score is about 3.47, guaranteeing Success. Angelica’s score is about 4.14 because Animal Lover efficiently matches the Flying condition. Her hidden Fortunate trait has a 50% chance to add 1, crossing the strict greater-than-5 threshold for Great Success. That is why her reward is either 25 or 37 funds.
The reverse pairing is the deliberate special-outcome route. Angelica befriends the goose for the better goose rewards, while Goberto misses the last step of the climb and dies. Death prevents him from receiving the special outcome’s nominal XP. His cumulative death count survives rewinds; killing him this way for the third time unlocks Goberto, Again!? If you want both special scenes without keeping the death, watch the result and then reverse time.
Quest Results and Level Up
After Cycle End, advance through the world map and any quest-result panels. The order follows the Round Table’s locked quest list. Depending on how many quests finished and whether a knight levels up, the transition can show Next Cycle, Close, Rewards, Next, and another Next Cycle. Keep advancing until the game loads the Cycle 3 Tower View; there is no fixed number of clicks.
On the normal Cycle 1 route, Angelica began this cycle with 11 XP. Either Cycle 2 assignment raises her above the 12 XP threshold for Level 2: she reaches 17 XP after Success or 20 XP after Great Success or either Unexpected Outcome. The result sequence then offers the Glossary level-up panel. You may add +1 to Strength, Agility, Charisma, Magic, Wits, or Luck, or leave the level-up unspent and do it later. The Omniscient hammer bypass began with 0 XP, so one Cycle 2 result alone does not reach Level 2.
Cycle 2 End State
On the recommended first-run route, with no Forge purchase or repair, you enter Cycle 3 with 160 or 172 funds, Scholars at 6 satisfaction and the other factions at 5, Goberto recruited, Paul obtained, and both quests completed. Angelica has 17 or 20 XP and can be raised to Level 2; she ends at 3 or 4 armor if the Cycle 1 hammer result left her at 4 or 5. Goberto has 6 XP and 6 or 7 armor.
Carina is recruited if you built the Forge. The chosen Gavault or Groveshire opening and Chester’s goose-success follow-up are queued for Cycle 3. If you postponed Goberto and sent his Map Room request, his return is queued as well. Any accepted quest you left unassigned remains in the Round Table list.
Cycle 2 ends at the first Cycle 3 Tower View frame. The county, Chester, Goberto callback, and Goberto death-announcement decisions themselves belong to the next walkthrough page.
