Enemies in Rune Dice are tied closely to each location. Regular enemies set the theme for the area, mini-bosses add stronger mechanics, and bosses usually test one specific part of your build: board control, status cleanup, enemy dice management, or burst damage.

Use the area tables first to see which enemies belong to each location. Then use the boss and mini-boss sections to plan around the mechanics most likely to end a run.

Quick Priorities

Enemy dice are often more dangerous than regular attacks because they change the board or power up enemies. When an enemy die appears, check whether it buffs enemies, blocks merges, applies a status to the hero, or moves enemies closer.

In general:

  • Clear or avoid dice that stop merges, such as Sand Die and webbed dice.
  • Prioritize enemy dice that scale enemy damage, especially Enemy Power Die and Goblin King Die.
  • Do not let healers and summoners sit safely in the backline for too long.
  • Save runes for bosses that interfere with your board, such as Arachna Webweaver, Banshee Queen, Bone Clown, and Tentacle Terror.

Boss Guide

Boss fights are best approached as mechanics checks. The table below lists the main thing each boss asks you to handle.

BossLocationMain PressureHow to Play Around It
Arachna WebweaverNearby ForestWeb trapsWebbed dice cannot merge, so avoid building a plan around one fragile merge chain. Keep space and runes available to recover the board.
King GreedgutNearby ForestSummons and global enemy buffsThin out summoned enemies quickly and treat Goblin King Die as a high-priority threat because it boosts all enemies.
Blight DruidNearby ForestCursed areas and poisonKeep high-value dice away from cursed areas when possible, and bring enough healing or mitigation to survive poison pressure.
Ancient LichDesolate SandsWeakness stacksWeakness makes incoming damage more dangerous, so avoid long fights where stacks can pile up.
Sun CultistDesolate SandsBlinding Light and Purifier actionsBring a stable damage plan instead of relying on one perfect board setup.
Banshee QueenDesolate SandsQueue disruptionBanshee Scream Die clears the dice queue, so spend key queued dice before the fight can erase your setup.
Tentacle TerrorVoid CircusAttack boostsMerge Tentacle Die when it appears to reduce the boss’s attack bonus. Ignoring tentacles makes the fight more dangerous.
Bone ClownVoid CircusDice confusionKeep the board simple and prioritize reliable merges over elaborate chains when the boss starts disrupting dice.
The RingmasterVoid CircusLate-game boss pressureEnter with a strong economy, spare runes, and a build that can still function if the board gets messy.

Mini-Boss Guide

Mini-bosses often preview the stronger mechanics that appear later in the location. If a mini-boss summons, heals, blocks merges, or buffs itself, solve that problem before chasing long combo setups.

Guardian GrizzlyNearby ForestHigh mini-boss pressurePlay clean damage turns and avoid falling behind on enemy attacks.
Antler HealerNearby ForestHealingFocus down key targets before the heal loop stretches the fight.
Chief WarmongerNearby ForestSummonsClear extra goblins before the board gets crowded.
Desert WormDesolate SandsWorm Attack and shieldsWatch for shield gain and do not let the fight drag without damage scaling.
Stone GargoyleDesolate SandsStone SkinPlan for reduced damage windows and burst when defenses are lower.
Scarab SwarmDesolate SandsSwarm pressureKeep enemy count under control and avoid giving the swarm time to stabilize.
Cleaver JugglerVoid CircusDirect hero damage from enemy diceTreat Enemy Cleaver Die as urgent because it damages the hero immediately.
Dice DevourerVoid CircusDice removalProtect your best dice and do not overcommit to a single die carrying the run.
Phase StalkerVoid CircusVoid mini-boss pressureBring flexible targeting and enough burst to close the fight quickly.
