rtifacts are the connective tissue of a Frostrain 2 run. Some are simple resources or passive bonuses, but the strongest choices usually turn something your train already does - gaining passengers, spending Supplies, using cards, leaving slots empty, triggering overperformance, or even losing passengers - into a repeatable engine.
This guide first explains how artifact offers and build-around effects work, then lists all 358 visible artifact entries. The catalog represents 360 visible Artifact-type definitions and transformed states because the three identical Torn Ticket pieces are grouped into one row. Hidden choice helpers, temporary status effects, and prestige timers are not collectibles and are excluded.
Artifact fundamentals
Silver, Gold, and Platinum are the three normal artifact tiers. Special artifacts sit outside that normal tier roll: they are granted by events, transformations, character mechanics, or other fixed systems. A Special artifact can be extremely strong, harmful, temporary, or purely situational, so Special should not be read as a tier above Platinum.
Artifact text generally falls into five practical patterns:
- Immediate value pays once when obtained, such as Supplies, passengers, EXP, cards, or another Drone Supply.
- Passive value continuously changes production, speed, sight, hand size, carriage capacity, or another train-wide stat.
- Triggered value pays whenever you repeat an action, such as gaining Supplies, using a card, finishing a Decision, leveling up, or losing a passenger.
- Conditional value only works while a train shape, resource total, environment, carriage tier, or synergy condition is true.
- Delayed or transforming value expires, changes form, or pays after a timer or objective. Its opening effect is not necessarily its final effect.
How Artifact Drone Supply works
A normal Artifact Drone Supply rolls one tier first, then fills every offered choice from that same tier. Extra offer slots therefore give you more choices within the rolled tier; they do not turn one supply into a mixture of Silver, Gold, and Platinum artifacts.

These are the base values shown by the game. The selection system uses them as relative weights. At train level 2 the shipped values total 101, so the normalized odds are about 77.2% Silver, 20.8% Gold, and 2.0% Platinum even though the display reads 78%, 21%, and 2%. Every other row totals 100. Artifact effects that alter tier odds are applied on top of these weights. Once the train reaches the final row, later levels continue using that last spread.
The Main pool is the normal artifact list. A named pool belongs to its matching unlock, build package, shop, or special system rather than the default list. Special source marks a Silver, Gold, or Platinum artifact created outside a static pool, commonly as a transformation or chained reward. Special/event source is used for the separate Special tier.
How to judge an artifact choice
- Name the current bottleneck. A future scaling engine is poor compensation if the train is about to fail from speed, Happiness, passengers, or Supplies. Immediate artifacts are often correct when they buy enough time for the rest of the build to work.
- Count triggers, not just numbers. A small reward on an action you perform constantly can outgrow a large one-time bonus. Supply gains, card uses, Decisions, new nodes, and passenger losses all support their own engines.
- Price the drawback against your actual build. Losing hand size is mild if you empty your hand quickly and severe if you are saving cards. Losing a passenger is manageable with generation and dangerous at a thin population total.
- Check when the value arrives. Temporary boosts are tempo tools. Delayed artifacts ask you to survive their weak period. Transforming artifacts may leave behind a permanent upside or a permanent penalty.
- Watch for direct conflicts. A flat production plan can invalidate an overperformance plan, and a long-train plan can switch off compact-train bonuses. The best artifact in isolation is not always the best artifact for the train you already built.
Build-around artifact directions
Passenger engines
Passenger builds become much more than extra labor. Forever Soup turns population into per-cycle Happiness, Buddy System scales all carriage production in groups of passengers, and Colossal Manpower Generator converts the same resource into speed. Ether Extractor pays Supplies when passengers arrive, while Low Prices scales production with the population you hold. The pattern is strongest when the build both gains passengers repeatedly and has enough carriage capacity to use them.
Supply engines
Supply artifacts care about different parts of the resource loop. Miser rewards each gain event, Empty Box permanently scales production after repeated gains, and Supply Recycling stretches a long series of pickups. Small Safe rewards Supplies currently held, whereas Robber Baron rewards Supplies already consumed. Prodigy and Genius can multiply both Supply gains and Artifact Drone Supply uses. Decide early whether the run wants to hoard, spend, or trigger many small gains; those are related but not identical plans.
Overperformance engines
Overperformance has two separate levers: trigger chance and productivity when it triggers. Polaroid Photo and Dispatch supply broad chance, Cunning rewards slower cycles, and Fever Time! plus Hot Time! scale from level-2 carriages. Once chance exceeds 100%, Hyperfocus converts the excess into productivity, while Rapid Growth turns successful triggers into permanent carriage growth. Work Life Balance is the deliberate opposite plan: it disables overperformance in exchange for a large flat production bonus, so it should not be mixed casually into an overperformance engine.
Compact trains and empty slots
Several artifacts pay for not filling every available space. Train Lightening turns empty train slots into speed, Train Optimize turns empty carriage slots into overperformance chance, and Train Expansion grants hand space while enough train spaces remain open. Central Command Train offers a very large production bonus at seven carriages or fewer. Train Fairy supports the related low-staffing plan by letting an unstaffed carriage produce as though it had one laborer. Expansion is not automatically progress when it switches off several multipliers at once.
Cards and hand size
Card engines reward throughput rather than merely holding a large hand. Collection of Critiques permanently grows per-cycle Happiness as cards are used, Cashback turns uses into Supplies, and Free Cookie Giveaway distributes carriage buffs. Full Possession rewards repeatedly filling and discarding the hand. Maximalist makes that easier, while Minimalist trades hand capacity for two immediate random artifacts. Treat hand size as part of the engine’s rhythm, not an unconditional good.
Passenger-loss engines
Passenger loss can be converted into several resources at once. Chrysanthemum pays Happiness, Memorial Bell pays EXP, Order No. 227 pays Supplies, Scale of Souls adds speed, and Virtue adds overperformance chance. Russian Roulette can turn losses into more artifacts, while Sadism grows its own output. These effects can make the same loss productive in several ways, but they do not make a zero-passenger state safe; build a reliable way to replenish population before deliberately accelerating losses.
Events and exploration
Map activity supports another engine. Detective pays for events, Dividend pays for completed Decisions, and Preserved Seeds turns those completions into artifacts. Explorer rewards unvisited Landmarks, Excavator rewards sustained outpost discovery, and Empty Supply Ledger transforms after visiting enough unvisited Rare locations. These choices are strongest while a large part of the map remains unexplored; their future trigger count matters more than their theoretical ceiling.
Transformations and delayed payoffs
Rusty Nut and Unstable Frame are investments: each begins with a penalty and later transforms into a positive artifact. They are easier to carry when the train already has enough speed or Happiness production to absorb the opening loss.
Ice Bolt, Ice Nut, and Acceleration Gate are temporary tempo. Their bonuses disappear on schedule, so their value is the progress they enable before removal rather than a permanent end-state multiplier.
Emergency Loan and Special Fuel Cocktail are bargains that come due. The Loan becomes Emergency Levy after its timer, while the Cocktail becomes Engine Explosion. Take the opening value only if the run can handle the later production penalty or passenger loss.
Glass Nut is environment-sensitive and changes when the train enters a blizzard. Empty Supply Ledger is objective-sensitive and improves after the required exploration. Installment Savings Account and Crown of Thorns do not transform, but both postpone an important part of their value. In every case, read the timer or trigger as part of the cost.
Stacking and repeatable artifacts
Most pooled artifacts have one available copy and leave the active selection pool when chosen. The 14 entries below are explicitly allowed to remain available. If the same artifact is obtained again, it levels the existing inventory entry instead of creating a separate slot.
Repeatable does not mean every artifact scales in the same way. Shop artifacts add another listed bonus, while Power Cycle Amplifier uses its own increasing per-copy formula. The exact effect column remains the authority for what another copy does.

Alpha, Beta, and Omega
Alpha, Beta, and Omega form a chained artifact line rather than three independent normal-pool picks. Alpha costs a passenger and allows Beta to appear. Beta costs three more passengers and allows Omega to appear. Omega is the payoff, combining a large global production bonus with overperformance chance and productivity. The full chain therefore asks for at least four passengers of immediate sacrifice plus enough time and artifact opportunities to see both follow-ups.

Pool or source shows the random-selection group when one exists. Main pool artifacts can appear in normal Artifact Drone Supply, while named pools belong to their matching unlock or system. Special labels mean the artifact is created by another mechanic rather than listed in the normal pool.
Effects use base values. A condition before a colon must be met before the following effect triggers. Current run totals can change after stacking, repeated triggers, train-level scaling, or other modifiers.
